Director and Performance Consultant

Steve Ingham

Rachel's background is steeped in developing people. A graduate in music, and a teacher by trade, she has always been fascinated by the deeper aspects of human behaviour and interaction. On moving to the Midlands Rachel took the plunge to move on from her teaching career to follow her passions by studying psychology, firstly through the Open University and then later a Masters in Occupational Psychology from Nottingham University.

Rachel is passionate about helping and supporting others through coaching. Clients discuss all kinds of issues, some in their private lives and some in their work lives - often both. Rachel believes that the coaching role is not about advice giving, but is the act of facilitating development, well-being and performance. It’s purpose is to raise self-awareness and identify choices in order to bridge the gap between the clients current state and where they would like to be. Rachel believes believes deeply in the power of talk, discussion and support through clean questioning and providing an unbiased perspective.

She is an accredited Spotlight practitioner and utilises performance profiling to enable individuals and teams to develop themselves, through increased self-awareness, self-discovery. This allows the individual or team to better understand their behaviour, and the behaviour of others, under pressure in order maximise collaboration and further develop personal and organisational resilience.

Rachel leads the coaching work for Supporting Champions.

“Throughout my career, Steve has provided me with a way of making science ideas useful for my preparation and performance. If science can be applied to the complex world of heptathlon, it can probably be applied to anything - Steve shows you how.”

Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill, Olympic Champion

“There are very few people that I would consider an insider to our efforts to win at successive Olympics but Steve was one of them - utterly professional but with a lightness of touch and a sense of humour that made him instantly likeable and one to trust.

Sir Matthew Pinsent, CBE

Four-time Olympic Champion

Steve presented at our annual conference to an audience of our most senior leaders and their management teams.  His passion for his subject, experience and ability to articulate his approach was captivating and the parallels between the techniques for achieving the best results from world class athletes and achieving results and maintaining focus in business were obvious.

He brings with him a measured and engaging self-assurance that creates the belief that “better is always possible”.
